Our Promise to Our Clients
As pet owners ourselves, the veterinarians and staff of the Animal Clinic of East Avenue truly understand that sharing your home with a pet is an immensely rewarding and satisfying experience. We also believe that the relationship you have developed with your pet is unique and important to you. This is why we have made it our mission to help you nurture and support that bond through personalized, compassionate, and lifelong veterinary care.
The basis of our promise to you and the foundation of your pet's health is the thorough practice of preventative care. We recommend routine and thorough wellness checkups, proper dental care here and at home, appropriate vaccinations, microchip identification in case your pet is lost, and regular screenings for diseases that commonly afflict pets in their senior years.
Veterinary Wellness Exams
A regular physical examination is just as important for your pet as it is for you. Because your pets can't tell you how they really feel, we recommend a complete physical examination at least once a year, though more frequent exams are encouraged.
A routine examination provides you and your veterinarian with the opportunity to develop a picture of your pet's overall health as well as to spot potential medical issues before they become serious health concerns. It's also an opportunity for you to ask your veterinarian important questions about your pet's health, habits and daily care. We also use this time to inform you about home healthcare for your pet and offer important advice and new information on the care of your particular type and breed of animal.
During your pet's wellness checkup, Animal Clinic of East Avenue doctors will:

Vaccines: Safe & Effective Preventative Medicine
Vaccinations are not only safe and effective; they are an important and fundamental piece of your pet's preventative healthcare plan. Advances in veterinary immunology have made diseases that once were relatively common and fatal to pets easily preventable. Additionally, with each passing year, veterinary science is improving on existent vaccines as well as increasing our ability to prevent an even wider array of contagious diseases.
The Animal Clinic of East Avenue's vaccination protocol is tailored to American Veterinary Medical Association guidelines, the lifestyle of your pet, as well as to protect your pet from the diseases he or she is most likely to encounter.
Our veterinarians truly believe that our carefully balanced approach is the best means to prevent infectious disease and the possibility of your pet having an adverse reaction to a vaccine.
Microchipping: Safe, Reliable Pet Identification
Does your pet have a microchip? Each year, millions of pets go missing and many don't make it back home. Microchipping your pet is a safe, simple and effective way to prevent this tragedy. About the size of a grain of rice, identification microchips are encoded with your pet's vital information and implanted beneath your pet's skin, usually between the shoulder blades.
Veterinary hospitals and animal shelters across the country and around the world are equipped with special scanners capable of reading these microchips. The information in the chip is used to reunite you with your pet.
The Animal Clinic of East Avenue uses the HomeAgain microchip system. HomeAgain provides a number of very useful services to pet owners such as their National Pet Recovery Database, Lost Pet Specialists, Rapid Lost Pet Alerts, Lost Pet Medical Insurance, Travel Assistance for Found Pets, and more.
Our Smaller Friends Need Care Too
The Animal Clinic of East Avenue is also very proud of the wellness services we are able to offer our clients that have exotic or pocket pets such as birds, reptiles, ferrets, guinea pigs, mice, chinchillas, rabbits, hamsters, and other small mammals. The healthcare needs for these pets are often quite unique and require a veterinary practice with experience and expertise in this area of veterinary care.
In the wild, many of these animals have evolved strategies to conceal illness or injuries as a survival technique to avoid predators. As a result, their medical problems often go unnoticed for too long. By the time the owner recognizes that there is a problem, the condition is often very serious.
This is why we strongly recommend regular physical examinations to check for health problems as well as annual monitoring to check for nutritional and husbandry-related conditions. With regular veterinary medical examinations–two per year is recommended–problems are often diagnosed before they become serious medical conditions.
After acquiring your new exotic or pocket pet, a complete veterinary examination is also strongly recommended. This exam includes a thorough physical examination, nutritional consultation, and disease screening and laboratory testing if necessary.
Internal Medicine
Though preventative care is our focus, the Animal Clinic of East Avenue also provides topnotch care and hospitalization for a number of chronic and acute diseases. These include oncology, diabetes, renal disease, and heart and pulmonary disease.
We can also provide clients with breeding and reproductive counseling as well as a wide range of related services for their pets.
